So I was fiddling around on Dreamwidth just now, and maybe I'm wrong, but is it right that you can't go further than 14 days back in your friends list?

As some of you will undoubtedly have noticed, I have recently been using [livejournal.com profile] andrewducker's excellent Feed This to That to put links on my LiveJournal. However, I can't help but notice that the link posts take up a lot of space on my page, and I'm not sure how useful they are to all my friends.

With this in mind, I have just acquired a Dreamwidth account, namely [personal profile] john_links and have set FTTT to post to that, creating a dedicated linkblog on Dreamwidth (and the associated LiveJournal, [livejournal.com profile] john_links, to which crossposts are set to occur).

This will mean that people who want to view the links can opt in by friending the new journal, rather than having them forced upon them. I'm going to run this as an experiment for a week or two, to see how it goes, so feel free to comment with any thoughts!

It is possible to connect a LiveJournal account to your Dreamwidth account for the purposes of crossposting and the like. Does this mean that one can input one's LiveJournal account, have Dreamwidth look at your flist and then present them as a list of Dreamwidth users to be added/followed/whatever?

Also, are there any decent journal themes over there yet?

If you want to leave a Dreamwidth username in the comments I'll add you to my list.

Something about which I am curious: I synced my LJ entries with Dreamwidth and promptly never really switched over. If one day I decided to start using it instead of LJ, would I be able to resynchronise or would I have to delete the current entries and then sync?

Posted via LiveJournal.app.

I have three invite codes for Dreamwidth available to the first people to comment (with the relevant e-mail address) on this entry.

EDIT: All gone!

Why Dreamwidth may yet prove to be a better solution than LiveJournal

I have a Dreamwidth account, which I am pleased with. I'm nowhere near to having optimised my account yet, since it's 04:00 and I have to be up in four hours to go to Alton Towers, but I'm just happy that I've got my preferred username and things like that.

If you have a Dreamwidth account, please stop by and add me, it's the same username as LiveJournal.
